What are Goals?

Once you’ve established a dream and determined its purpose you must set some long and short term goals to help you close in on realizing your dream. When setting goals you’ll want to follow the S.M.A.R.T. Goal Setting System to ensure you set effective goals. When setting Goals you’ll need to take the following acronym into consideration.

S – Specific – your goals must contain specific items, dates, amounts, etc. so you can see progress. A general Goal may never be obtained due to lack of specific targets to identify its completeness.
M – Measurable – your goals must be measurable. How can you measure your success if your goals lack something to measure against?
A – Agreed upon – you must commit to meeting your goals. Your goals cannot be dreams that you ponder on they must be commitments you agree to accomplish. Failing to stay true to your commitments will on end in a goal unattained.
R – Realistic – your Goals must be realistic. Set Goals that are attainable and as you reach those Goals you can set the bar higher the next time and so on.
T – Time sensitive – your Goals must have due dates to be sure you are working against a deadline. Procrastination will delay any Goal into eternity.
